One of the most common problems which effects the entire air conditioning system is the failure to regularly change your filters. Your filters should be changed at least every 1 to 2 months. The intervals are shorter here because we live in a desert environment which contains higher concentrations of dust. Your filters are not only for your air quality they also protect the evaporator coils inside your air handler. These are coils you cannot see and are often not accessible to clean. Here is a dismantled unit and the condition its coils reduced the cooling efficiency of this system by 50%. What does this mean to you? Dirty filters mean costly cooling bills. You see, simple maintenance can cost dearly on cleaning and energy.
